Terms of use
Effective October 1, 2026. Using theoldtradesman.com means you accept these terms.
What this site is
The Old Tradesman is a cartoon, and this is a general-interest site about tools and technique, published by Bellwether-Pacific LLC. It is information for adults working on their own homes. It is not professional advice, and reading it does not make anyone here your plumber, electrician, contractor or inspector.
Your job, your call
Every house is different, and codes change from place to place. The maker’s instructions for your part and your local code come first. Where they differ from a bench note, follow them. Know your limits: work on gas, on wiring, on a water heater’s relief valve, or on anything you are not sure of belongs to a licensed professional. You decide what to attempt, and you are responsible for the result.
Accuracy
Each note lists the sources it was written from, and we fix errors when we find them or are told about them. The site is still provided as is, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, Bellwether-Pacific LLC and the people who work on the site are not liable for damages that come from using it or relying on it.
Products and links
Some notes link to FourHome parts on Amazon; How we make money explains that. Purchases happen on Amazon, under Amazon’s terms. Links to other sites are there as sources, and we do not control what those sites say.
Copyright and names
The Old Tradesman character, the panels and the text belong to Bellwether-Pacific LLC. Quote a short passage or share a single panel with credit and a link, and we will be glad of it. Anything more needs permission. Brand names such as Moen, Delta and Kohler belong to their owners. They are used here only to say what a part replaces or whose instructions are cited, and no affiliation is claimed.
Changes
These terms may be updated. When they are, the date at the top changes.
